Yeah, too bad it’s the 00’s and it doesn’t count unless you do a fs bigspin or a nollie heelflip noseslide. Maybe he should’ve done a lipslide to switch crooked grind or a wallie to manual trick, since those are really cool things to do right now. No video part can be good without a backside 180 nosegrind revert and a 5-0 to fakie on a banked ledge, noooooo, nobody’s sick of seeing those yet. It doesn’t matter that it’s completely derivative and unoriginal, since it’s still creative as long as you do it in the right era of skateboarding. Maybe you’ve never been to the ‘city’ of North Haven, CT - not too many options there.
Anyway, what’s the difference between bringing the barrier/kicker to a basketball court with smooth ground and having it at a park? Or maybe you’d be more psyched if they had taken the barrier to a loading dock and skated it like a foot-high ledge. Wait, I know what would’ve made you happy - how about some more faggoty wallie tricks*, with some bonus footage of dudes 69ing at the end?
The ‘point’ of the contest is to do the best trick trick on the barrier, wherever, however. Taking it somewhere is probably encouraged, but that doesn’t mean you have to take it on a sightseeing tour of your shitty spots to win. Besides, these jerks took the barrier to a bar (http://www.vimeo.com/1573802). Who wouldn’t rather skate a bar than a gay loading dock where your only possibility of getting booze is if there’s a bum nearby you can steal it from? Even then it’ll probably only be a bottle of robitussin or rubbing alcohol. But yeah, these tricks are probably in the top five because they’re some of the best ‘stand-alone’ tricks so far - nobody else has done them, they’re ‘good’/hard tricks, and they’re done cleanly. And as far as having a ‘lot of runs in a warehouse,’ well, these were all added pretty early on in the contest.
